DROITWICH’S Repair Cafe will be relaunching at a new venue at the end of this month.
The popular Repair Café is set to return on Saturday, January 31, at Droitwich Spa Baptist Church and will offer residents free help to repair broken household items, save money, and reduce waste.
The cafe used to be hosted on the final Saturday of each month at the Droitwich Arts Network Hub.
However, the venue closed back in August to make way for the new Droitwich Banking Hub in St Andrews Square.
The event will run from 10am to 2pm, with additional sessions planned for the final Saturday of February and March as part of a three-month trial.
Repair Cafés are community-run events where skilled volunteers help people fix everyday items such as small electricals, clothing, bikes, toys, and household objects.
Instead of throwing items away, residents can learn how repairs are made and extend the life of possessions that might otherwise end up in landfill.
The Repair Café is run by volunteers from Bromsgrove & Droitwich Makerspace, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to hands-on learning, sustainability, and community education.
Repairs are free, but donations are welcome to help cover essential running costs such as venue hire and insurance.
A spokesperson for the Repair Cafe said: “The relaunch comes at a time when many households are feeling the effects of rising living costs.
“By helping people repair rather than replace items, the Repair Café provides practical support while also promoting environmental responsibility and skill-sharing within the community.”
