A SEARCH has been launched to find people across Wychavon who were born in the same year as The Queen.
Those who came into the world in 1926 – making them 90 this year – will be offered the chance to enjoy a special Tea for The Queen event.
It will be hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire – Her Majesty’s representative in the county, and the Mayor of Worcester.
Marks and Spencer is sponsoring the right royal event at the Worcester Guildhall on June 11 – The Queen’s official birthday.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Lt Col Patrick Holcroft, said: “The Queen’s 90th birthday is an occasion for national celebration.
“I am delighted to be jointly hosting Tea for The Queen, as it will give Worcestershire people who are reaching the same milestone as Her Majesty the chance to join the celebrations of her remarkable reign.
“It will be a great pleasure to spend the afternoon in their company and hear their stories of the last nine decades.”
Applications can be downloaded from www.wychavon.gov.uk or picked up from the Droitwich Spa Community Contract Centre and Library, Victoria Square.
The forms can be completed by a relative or friend on behalf of the applicant, however they must be able to confirm that the nominated person will be celebrating their 90th birthday this year and will be able to attend the event on June 11.
Places at the tea party are limited, so names of attendees will be drawn in a ballot of all applications received.
Each lucky nonagenarian who secures a ticket for the event will be able to bring one guest with them.
A wide range of other events will be held across Worcestershire to mark Her Majesty’s birthday, including the lighting of beacons on Thursday (April 21), the date of The Queen’s actual birthday, and a flotilla of boats on the River Severn on June 11.
