A SERIES of six interactive displays will be created at Droitwich’s St Andrews Church so residents can ‘Experience Easter’.
The pieces, which will go on show at the church, will tell the story of Easter and provide different things for people to do or different aspects to think about.
One example is the Hopes and Dreams display which tells the story of Palm Sunday – that features a road, palm leaves and a cross made from stone.
People can pick up a stone and write their own hopes and dreams on it before placing it at the foot of the cross.
More than 350 children from fours schools – St Peter’s Droitwich CofE Academy, Hindlip First School, Westlands First school and Chawson First School – will be guided through the stations which proved very popular last year.
St Andrews Church is open all day and Experience Easter will be available for members of the public to visit and take part in the activities until April 23 – except during school visits.
Hope Evans, nine, came to see Experience Easter last year when she attended Chawson First School.
Now at Witton School she said “I heard the bible story before but doing all the things made me really think about it.
“It was very good. I am going to show mum what to do at the stations this year”
Rev Bev Jameson, team vicar for Droitwich Spa, Salwarpe and Hindlip with Martin Hussingtree, said: “Last year the children brought their families to show them the activities they had done during their school visit.
“We found mums, dads and other adults did the activities too.
“It does not matter if you are seven or 70 – we are all alone and afraid sometimes and we can write or draw something to remind us of that and leave it in the Garden of Gethsemane display.
“I really hope people come, enjoy the displays and learn a little more about the story of Easter.”
