Droitwich residents given chance to share concerns at meeting

SPA residents who want to voice any concerns about their local area can have a face-to-face meeting with their Wychavon District Councillors.

Those living in Bowbrook can see Coun Margaret Rowley on Thursday (January 22) at the latest ‘Meet Your Council’ event.

She will start the day by meeting mothers and children waiting to catch the school bus from Shernal Green at 7.45am and she will also be speaking to residents in Oddingley where their village hall is threatened with closure.

Coun Rowley said: “Whist I always aim to keep up-to-date with addressing issues in the ward, I have found these targeted events reveal more in-depth information which has brought a closer understanding between the council and the community.

“This year I will be looking at community safety and sustainability with Wychavon’s Community Safety Officer.”

Then between 9.30am and midday next Saturday (January 24), Councillors Bob Brookes and Mike Barratt will be holding an open surgery at the Droitwich Customer Contact Centre, located in Droitwich Library.

Residents are free to go along and raise any issues with the pair.

Tracy Perkins, Wychavon District Council’s Localism and Communities Officer, said: “Since June 2014, our Meet your Council events have taken place in 19 wards and a broad range of issues – from highways and pavements to business rates and planning issues – have been raised.

“Generally speaking, people like living in Wychavon and they mentioned community spirit, local events, the parks and our approach to supporting businesses as things they value.”
