Droitwich residents slam Severn Trent after being left without water for five days

DROITWICH residents are furious with Severn Trent after being left without water for five days following a burst pipe.

It is believed all households on Hare Close – and beyond – were affected between last Friday and Tuesday.

Close resident Mark Naylor said: “It’s been an absolute nightmare dealing with our water suppliers, Severn Trent Water.

“For me and many others in the area, having no water, although frustrating, was not the main problem.

“It was the complete lack of communication from Severn Trent which still hasn’t told us why this happened.”

Those affected confirmed Severn Trent did send out text messages but only to make them aware the water was still off, not explaining the reason why.

Mum-of-two Elissa Warner, who also lives on the close, said: “It’s been horrific and the service has been poor.

“I received texts on Friday and Saturday telling me the water will be back on at 4pm but it wasn’t – that was the last time I heard off them.

“We’ve been unable to wash our clothes or have showers because all of our extended family live in the area too.”

Most, if not all, households had their water supply turned back on by Tuesday evening.

Severn Trent Water told the Standard it had accidentally burst a pipe after carrying out ‘essential improvement’ work in the area.

A spokesperson said: “As a result of this some of our customers have experienced lower than normal water pressure, intermittent supply or had no water at all.

“Our teams worked extremely hard to make sure any disruption was kept to a minimum.

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and apologise for any disruption caused.”
