DROITWICH residents are being urged to turn the district green this Valentine’s Day to show their love for the environment.
Wychavon District Council, Transition Evesham Vale and Planet Droitwich are supporting the ‘For the Love Of’ campaign – which encourages people to make and wear green hearts to prompt them to talk about climate change and how it threatens the things we love.
Residents can collect pre-made hearts from Planet Droitwich in St Andrew’s Shopping Centre, Droitwich Spa.
They will also have the opportunity to nominate in this year’s Wychavon Intelligently Green Awards, backed by headline sponsors Rooftop Housing Group and Fortis Living.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at Pershore College’s new sustainable building on June 17 and will be hosted by impressionist and actor Alistair McGowan.
The awards were held for the first time in 2014 and the title of overall winner went to Mike Coe for his Autonomous House in Cropthorne, which amongst other things is super-insulated, water neutral and sends no carbon into the atmosphere.
