Droitwich residents urged to get the town 'Clean for the Queen'

RESIDENTS of all ages from across Wychavon are being urged to join forces and give their areas a spring clean to celebrate HM The Queen’s 90th birthday.

‘Clean for the Queen’ has been launched across the UK in a bid to get one million people up and down the country to tidy their area ahead of Her Majesty reaching her marvellous milestone on April 21.

Individuals, community groups, clubs and organisations are being encouraged to carry out their litter picks in their areas throughout February and March with a mass clean-up planned in places across the country over the weekend of March 4 to 6.

The event is being supported by Wychavon District Council which will be loaning out litter pick kits to all those who want to hold events where they live – a large set of adult kit for 20 people or smaller ones for ten can be booked.

Potential participants are being urged to get in quick though as all equipment will be issued on a first come, first served basis.

Schools can get kits free if they are among the first 2,500 nationally to sign up to the campaign through www.cleanforthequeen.co.uk – the Clean for the Queen website.

Anyone interested in holding their own litter pick in their area should email [email protected] or call Karen Betteridge on 01386 565138.

The deadline for applications is February 19.
