Droitwich residents urged to partake in air quality survey

Droitwich Editorial 19th Feb, 2024   0

RESIDENTS across the county are being urged to take part in an air quality survey being conducted by Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS).

The survey, being delivered in partnership with Worcestershire County Council’s Public Health Team, aims to gather valuable insights from the community to further enhance air quality monitoring and management efforts.

The project will also be held in conjunction with the recent installation of 26 real-time air quality monitors across the county as part of a three-year DEFRA-funded scheme to improve Worcestershire’s air quality.

The survey will help WRS identify hotspots and ensure their air quality measures align with the needs and priorities of the community, including health.

Head of Worcestershire Regulatory Services, Simon Wilkes, urged people to complete the survey and share their views.

He said: “Understanding what drives the behaviour of the residents and visitors is absolutely vital for us to help inform our efforts to create a healthier living environment for everyone in Worcestershire.”

The survey will cover various aspects of air quality, including perceptions, concerns, and suggestions for improvement.

By actively participating, residents can contribute to shaping future air quality policies and schemes and help ensure they are tailored to meet the needs of the community.

Coun Rick Deller, executive board member for housing and regulatory Services on Wychavon District Council, added: “I am looking forward to hearing feedback from our residents about the air quality in our district.

“One of the reasons I moved to the area was because of the air quality and I am passionate to hear the community’s thoughts.

“It will help us identify any problematic areas which would really make a difference to people of all ages in the district, and it’ll take just 10 minutes.”

The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and the deadline for responses is 11pm on May 12.

People can visit worcsregservices.gov.uk/airquality to complete the survey and can email [email protected] for further details on the research or the DEFRA project.
