Droitwich Salvation Army Shop reopens after break-in where £500 was stolen

THE SALVATION Army Charity Shop in Droitwich has reopened following a burglary at the premises earlier this week, which resulted in the theft of more than £500.

The shop, located on St Andrews Street, reopened on Wednesday, allowing staff and volunteers to resume serving the local community.

As a temporary precaution, the shop is currently accepting card payments or exact cash only.

The Salvation Army has thanked the Droitwich community for the overwhelming support shown since the incident, including kind messages, offers of help and prayers.

Mjr Sandra Collins, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Droitwich, said:“We have been deeply moved by the kindness and support shown by the people of Droitwich following this upsetting incident.

“We would like to thank everyone for their prayers, encouragement and generosity.

“Despite what has happened, our doors are open once again and our commitment to supporting the local community remains as strong as ever.”

Income from the charity shop helps fund a wide range of local Salvation Army activities in Droitwich, including community groups, family support and outreach work. While police investigations remain ongoing, the charity is focused on moving forward and continuing its work.

The Salvation Army welcomes any form of support, including financial donations via the Droitwich Corps JustGiving page, as well as donations of good‑quality items to the shop during opening hours.

Mjr Collins added: “Every donation, whether financial or in goods, helps us continue serving those who rely on our programmes and activities. We are incredibly grateful for the community standing with us at this time.”

West Mercia Police said earlier this week investigations into the incident were ongoing.
