DROITWICH scouts paid a special visit to St Richards House to meet the mayor and to learn the ways of the council.
The youngsters from the Third Droitwich Scouts took the places of councillors around the chamber before being given a short talk by Coun Bob Brookes on the role of the mayor and the council.
The scouts were given the chance to see the chain of office and a pair of silver ceremonial maces, dating back to the 1600s.
The youngsters were also invited to a council meeting to see democracy in action.
The visit was part of the Scouts’ Community Challenge Award and was a requirement for achieving the Chief Scout’s Gold Award.
Coun Brookes said: “These youngsters are the future of our town and it bodes well they have shown a keen interest in community affairs.”
