Droitwich shoppers warned of 'new' distraction theft technique being used at cash machines

Droitwich Editorial 28th Jan, 2022 Updated: 28th Jan, 2022   0

A WARNING has been issued to shoppers in Droitwich after a new distraction theft technique was used in the town centre.

A woman was approached whilst she was withdrawing money from a cash point machine.

The machine keypad was covered with a piece of paper which enabled the thief to withdraw cash from her bank account whilst distracting her.

The technique has been particularly used to target elderly and vulnerable people.

Anyone who withdraws cash should check for suspicious people around them before using the machines and shout to attract the attention of others if they feel threatened in any way.

To report incidents of this nature to the police, call 101.
