Droitwich Soccer Aid returns for 2025

Droitwich Editorial 15th May, 2025   0

THE ANNUAL charity event for Droitwich Soccer Aid starts up again, writes Phoebe Mitchell.

After the original date set in 2021 was cancelled due to Covid-19, the fifth annual match launched again in 2022 and since then they’ve raised over £20,000.

The cash which they have raised is to go towards the local charities, including Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and Orchid Testicular Cancer.

Simon Graham, the event organiser, said: “The event started from a desire to support the community and honour a dear friend.” “over the years, we’ve seen tremendous support from our local businesses and community, enabling us to make a meaningful impact, and we really hope this will continue into 2025 and beyond.”

During 2024, the Droitwich Soccer Aid partnered with Worcestershire Snoezelen and together they raised £11,000 to support their initiatives, now encouraged by last years success with the collaboration, they wish to continue the triumph with Worcester Snoezelen.

Reflecting on the favorable result, Simon notes his objectives for the further extension and sustainability through partnerships.

He added: “We’re really grateful for the ongoing support of businesses.”

He thanked County Building Droitwich, Droitwich Roofing Specialists, Diamond Windows, MB Insolvency, TEC Electric Motors, LDM Renovations, LFJ Building, Darren Pitts DP Construction, RBS Services, Rapid Screens Ltd, Piggy Bank accountants, Force Electrical Servies, Dignity Funeral Directors and Droitwich Stairlifts for their support.

“Their contributions – like kit, donations and funding – enables us to: run a raffle and sports auction, with some prizes, fun for the children with a rock school, tombola, sensory areas, games and face painting.”

“The event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Droitwich Rugby Club, a steadyfast supporter, generously provides its facilities for free – like the club house, changing rooms and a pitch – ensuring a memorable experience for attendees.”

“The event has become a must attend in Droitwich, showcasing the community’s unity and generosity. With over 40 people already signed up, wee look forward to another successful year. Please support if you can,” Simon added.

Worcester Snoezelen said:

“We’re so grateful for their support again and look forward to bringing Rock School to preform, amongst all sorts of games, stalls, and not forgetting the EPIC soccer aid raffle with unbelievable prizes up for grabs.”
