Droitwich Spa author to release debut dystopian thriller novel

A DROITWICH Spa based author is set to release his debut political thriller novel in February.

Author, Dominic Forte’s dystopian feature follows protagonists David and Eva and will be released on Februrary 27, 2024 by publisher Cranthorpe Millner.

The book, Alsatia, will explore the moral implications of murder for the greater good and the lengths one would go to in order to replace the current systems of power, while promising a unique perspective on the consequences of political action.

The author, a barber with 10 years experience, studied English and creative writing at Birmingham City University, focusing on literature and its relationship to shaping the modern world before returning to his trade.

Coming from a family steeped in diaspora and listening to the thoughts and opinions of different individuals daily, politics and society have shaped his work and interests.

He said: “Written in direct response to the Grenfell fire, and the rising social discontent which has become apparent in this country over the last ten to fifteen years, Alsatia explores the idea that actions speak louder than words.

“Social media allows us to hide behind hypotheticals, rather than going out into the world and making a difference.

“Alsatia examines a character who decides to make a difference, a character who tries to impact the world he lives in by taking matters into his own hands.

“However, our actions have consequences. While David’s story is a direct reaction to Grenfell, Eva’s story takes influence from the Iraq war and its effects on Iraqi citizens.

“A once thriving society, one taking steps to become more liberal, yet easily reduced to chaos and disarray following a cessation of government.

“Alsatia highlights how easily our illusion in the safety of democracy can crumble, and what that means for those living under its protection.”
