HM THE QUEEN has written to a member of Droitwich Spa Baptist Church to express her appreciation at the hard work and service undertaken by 83-year-old Audrey Miles.
Audrey had written to Her Majesty to tell her about her work in Covent Garden as a young girl where she made costumes for the roles of The Queen and Princess Margaret when the pair featured at the Royal Opera House in 1953 as part of the Coronation celebrations.
Buckingham Palace told Mrs Miles the Queen was delighted to have received the photos of the coronation costumes and another picture of the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret which Audrey took at Covent Garden.
She was delighted also to hear of the celebrations that took place at Droitwich Spa Baptist Church to mark her 90th birthday.
The monarch’s marvellous milestone was marked with a special party held in the church’s community building.
It was attended by a lot of people from the town.
Mrs Miles was delighted to have been involved in the organisation of Her Majesty’s birthday bash and was equally delighted with her written response and photograph from Buckingham Palace.
