DROITWICH Spa Civic Society are celebrating the achievements of their 50th year in operation as they look forward to more impactful years.
Founded in 1974, the organisation provides a meeting place for all with an interest in the enhancement and preservation of Droitwich Spa and the surrounding vilalges.
The Society says it is committed to supporting the improvement of the town, including the protection and preservation of its historic core, for the benefit of all the residents of the town and surrounding areas.
In 2024, it’s 50th year, the society continues its role in monitoring and weighing in on relevant planning applications and represented residents on steering groups for neighbourhood development and art projects.
Future plans for Droitwich Spa are always kept up with from members of the society who engaged with the community and local decision makers at meetings and social events.
Looking ahead, the society intends to continue all of these vital processes whilst continuing to engage with the community and help to get the right results on the South Worcestershire Development Plan during its review process.
A spokesperson for the Droitwich CS added: “As a town we are blessed with a unique heritage, and have some fabulous facilities in which to live and to work.”
As a small volunteer run organisation, they welcome people getting actively involved in supporting their work. The organisation are currently recruiting a chair, secretary and treasurer as the current volunteers’ terms have come to an end.
They also need people with planning knowledge, communication, web and social media experience to support their work.
Any one wanting to learn more can contact the outgoing chair Mike Meredith on [email protected] or join them at their AGM on Friday, February 21 (7:30pm) at Sacred Heart Church Hall.
