DROITWICH Spa FC are through to the Midland Football League Division 1 play-off final after a dramatic match against Hinckley AFC.

The Saltmen won the encounter after a penalty shoot-out which followed a roller-coaster 90 minutes that finished 3-3.

Droitwich went 1-0 up through Alex Dugmore but then Hinckley equalised soon after.

The home side then went 2-1 up before half-time and added a third after the break.

But, epitomising how they have been all season, The Saltmen were not to be defeated.

Connor Collins got one back to make it 3-2 and Josh Hurdman scored the equaliser late on to take the game to penalties.

The shoot-out began well for Spa who took first.

Cory Rudd put the first one away and the lead was cemented when Rogerson saved.

Connor Collins made it 2-0 and Hinckley pulled it back to 2-1.

A Droitwich miss and the home side converting took the nail-biting finale to 2-2.

But then Jack Brighton scored to make it 3-2 to Droitwich.

Roberson saved Hinckley’s fourth penalty and Sam Hurdman netted the winning penalty to delight the 250 fans who had made the journey up to Leicestershire.

Droitwich won the match 4-2 on penalties and are a step closer to achieving a second promotion in successive seasons.
