Droitwich Spa High School charities week set to return

Droitwich Editorial 27th Sep, 2023   0

STUDENTS at Droitwich Spa High School will be shaving their heads for charity among other fundraising efforts.

The school is again partaking in a charities week, organised by the senior students team within the sixth-form, to raise funds for multiple charities including the local Droitwich Spa Foodbank.

A national and international charity will also be chosen to receive a portion of the funds raised. These have yet to be chosen.

Droitwich Spa Town Council heard all about the schools plans from a sixth-form pupil at Monday’s full meeting of the council (September 26).

The fundraising week, held this year from October 23 to 27, will feature various fundraising efforts including a teachers talent competition dubbed ‘Teachers got Talent’, a spill or fill your guts challenge, a school music video, leg waxing and head shaving and finally a lip sync battle between teachers and students.

Last year the schools’ charities week raised almost £6,000 for charity setting a new school fundraising record.

The funds were donated to Heads Up, a local charity focusing on young people’s mental health, Macmillan Cancer Support, their partner school in Ngobit, Kenya and The Little Princess Trust.

This years aim for the school is to smash £10,000 raised.

Fundraising and online donation pages will be set up shortly for people to donate to. Keep an eye out in the Standard for updates on how to donate.

Students who work in nearby retail stores will also be putting up posters to rally donations.
