DROITWICH Spa High School’s charity fundraising week has been hailed a ‘fantastic’ success following a record breaking total of nearly £8000 raised.
The annual fundraising event organised by sixth form students at the school saw a range of stalls and events taking place at break and lunchtime, resulting in £7,875.14 raised for three chosen charities.
Throughout the week of activities (October 23 to 27) students had their heads shaved, staff had their legs waxed, and teachers and students had lip syn battles in the school’s theatre.
A range of food and drink stalls offering milkshakes, nachos, and pizza also helped raise funds.
This year’s chosen charities included Cancer Research, Droitwich Food Bank and International Red Cross. In addition to those beneficiaries, Droitwich Spa’s partner school in Ngobit, Kenya will receive £1,000 to pay for bursaries in 2024.
Mr Simon Jones, director of sixth form at the school said: “All sixth form students worked incredibly hard to make this such a fantastic event and the record amount raised this year was absolutely staggering.
“We are very proud to continue to support local, national and international charities.”
Last year the schools’ charities week raised almost £6,000 with the beneficiaries being Heads Up, a local charity focusing on young people’s mental health, Macmillan Cancer Support, The Little Princess Trust and as always their partner school in Ngobit, Kenya.
