A GROUP of 20 Droitwich Spa High School students enjoyed a trip to the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva in March, writes Catherine Reston.

During the trip the students toured the United Nations’ building and were impressed by the art and architecture there.

The science students took in two exhibitions on ‘microcosms’ and ‘the world of particles,’ followed by a lecture and tour of the Large Hadron Collider.

Students were even able to visit the control room of ATLAS, the experiment that confirmed the existence of the Higgs boson particle, also known as the God particle.

Matt Green, an A-Level physics student, said: “”I thought the whole trip was a great learning experience”.

Khalid Monzur added: “It was a very busy and exciting three days that were inspiring and enjoyable.”
