SIXTH formers from Droitwich Spa High School have worked together to raise thousands of pounds for three local charities.
As part of a ‘Charities Week’, students took part in a variety of activities during their break and lunch time to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, Acorns Hospice and Leukemia Care.
Over the course of the week, more than £1,000 was raised which will be added to the proceeds of a Race For Life event that took place at the end of the summer term, bringing the total to over £2,200.
Deputy Head Boy, Joe Barely, said: “During the course of the week, the level of commitment and willingness to work in a team that was demonstrated by our Sixth Form students was truly commendable.
“They should all be extremely proud with what they’ve achieved and I look forward to further successful fundraising with our enhanced community ethos”.
The lower school pupils enjoyed a new take on the old party game ‘pin the tail on the donkey’, as well as chocolate fountains, cake stalls and a coconut shy.
At lunchtime in the school theatre, there were daily activities, such as a lip sync battle, a leg waxing auction and a version of the TV show ‘Would I Lie to You’ all of which were enthusiastically supported by hundreds of students.
Mr Jon Brook, Head of Sixth Form added: “This money is testament to the kind and generous nature of all of our Sixth Formers.
“There is also a tremendous amount of volunteering and other altruistic activity carried out here at school and in the local community.
“We are very proud of their contributions to society.”
