STUDENTS explored exciting new horizons last Thursday at a Careers Fair held at Droitwich Spa High School.

The event, which was held as part of a parent’s evening for years 11, 12 and 13, played host to more than a dozen employers and training providers.

It was held to coincide with National Careers Week and offered students the chance to talk to and get advice from employers and training providers, all of whom offered apprenticeships, some up to degree level.

Employers at the event included Vax, Mazak and Hogarths, while training providers were TDM Wyre Academy which offers computing and IT apprenticeships.

The Worcestershire Group Training Association, which offers apprenticeships in engineering, accountancy, business admin, customer service and warehousing, also had representatives at the event.

Organiser Lindsay Stevens said: “This was a great event that showcased for our students what range of post-16 opportunities there are in the county.

“Although the sixth form at Droitwich Spa does provide an excellent range of courses, there are some students for whom an employment-based route is the preferable option.

“Tonight really gave them a chance to see what is out there for them.”
