Droitwich Spa High School teachers running London Marathon in memory of loved ones

TWO TEACHERS from Droitwich Spa High School will be running the marathon in memory of family members and to raise funds for the charities which helped them.

Science teacher Stephanie Holmes and PE teacher Matthew Jarvis have been training hard over the last few months for the challenge.

Stephanie is running to raise money for St Richards Hospice in Worcester in memory of her mum who died of cancer in 2006.

Stephanie said the charity provided her mum with a place to go and relax and the nurses cared for her until the end, allowing her to spend her last moments at home with the people she loved most.

“Without them, that would not have been possible and I will be forever grateful for this.”

Matthew, 26, is running in memory of his dad, an avid runner, who died of a brain tumour in 2015.

He is raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Care which, he said, helped with support and counselling and assisted his mum and brother deal with things at home.

“No-one should go through this alone and I can’t thank them enough for their help and support.”
