DROITWICH Spa Lido is set to welcome visitors for the first time this year as operators announce the official summer opening.
The town’s historic outdoor swimming pool opens this Saturday (May 24) offering a unique space to swim, relax and soak up the sun as the centre marks its 90th anniversary.
Doors first opened at the lido on June 10, 1935 and to mark this year’s milestone, community group Friends of Droitwich Spa Lido are bringing a summer packed full of celebrations to the pool.
On June 11, there is a live music evening at Little Al’s cafe, featuring acoustic music from Dan Greenaway – a former Spa Lido lifeguard.
A special birthday party will be held for the lido on June 14 with a barbecue, pizza ovens and family friendly fun.
And, in a nod to the traditional lido entertainment prevalent in years gone by, a sychronised swimming display will keep visitors entertained on July 19.
