Droitwich Spa Litter Squad hits out at thousands of pounds of road signs discarded by Highways

THE DROITWICH Spa Litter Squad has cleared a number of old road signs and cones in undergrowth during its latest clean-up.

It was carried out at Rashwood and by Junction 5 (Droitwich) n the M5.

It comes just weeks after others were found in other parts of the district, including Evesham and Pershore.

Clive Shearman, who heads up the group, has hit out previously at Highways authorities for not collecting the signs which are very expensive – sometimes £100 each – and footed by the taxpayer.

He said: “It’s criminal that these are left then new ones purchased with the councils and highways picking up the tab.

“They are mostly on the A38 out of Droitwich towards Junction 5 and at the roundabout by that junction.

“There is hundreds of pounds worth literally abandoned.”
