A NUMBER of organisations across the town have launched The Droitwich Spa Reading Pledge as part of the National Year of Reading 2026, writes Andres De Miguel.
Among those taking part are Droitwich Library, St Joseph’s Primary School and Wychavon District Council.
And cafes, shops, salons, waiting rooms, community halls and charities are being urged to create welcoming reading corners across Droitwich Spa.
The reading corners would involve a small reading space and a free book swap.
Participating venues will receive a starter pack of books, courtesy of Droitwich Library, and a social media toolkit.
Nicky Hitchcock, Droitwich Spa Library manager, said: “By creating small reading spaces in everyday places, we hope to make reading more visible and accessible for everyone in Droitwich spa.”
Coun Richard Morris, leader of Wychavon District Council and Executive Board Member for Economic Growth and Tourism, said: This project is a brilliant example of what happens when our community comes together with a shared purpose.
“I’m proud to see local businesses, schools and the libreary working side by side to inspire curiosity and connection across the town.”
