A COLLECTION of non-perishable items and emergency food supplies for those in need over the festive season is being carried out by Droitwich’s Specsavers.
Staff at the store, in St Andrew’s Square, want residents to donate items for the Droitwich Spa Foodbank, such as tinned and jarred foods, dried pasta, rice, soups, biscuits and other long-life foods to help provide parcels.
Store director and optometrist Emma Singh said Christmas was a time of the year everyone should be able to enjoy and she hoped by donating food to those in need, they were helping make their festive season a little bit jollier.
“It’s important to recognise there are so many people in our community who struggle to provide for themselves and their families.
“So, as a local business, it’s our responsibility to help as much as we can.”
She urged the community to get behind the campaign in the run up to Christmas.
“I’m sure everyone has a few packets of biscuits or tins of food that they can part with.”
