A DROITWICH opticians ensured students at Ombersley Endowed School would see a bright future after they donated new online vision screening software.

The technology, given by Specsavers, on St Andrew’s Square, carries out three-minute tests which detect the common eye problems among youngsters, including long and short sight or lazy eye.

This contribution is part of their Screening for Schools campaign after a study showed millions of children have never had an eye test.

Store manager Becky Marvin said: “There is still a lack of general awareness among some parents and teachers about the importance of regular sight tests from the age of three or four.

“We have seen some cases where children have been misdiagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD or learning difficulties when in fact the child simply needs glasses.”
