A DROITWICH woman has thanked The Standard for helping her resolve issues she said she had with her house.
Vanessa Cox, of Poole Cottages in Huddington, claimed her home had been left in a state of neglect and substandard jobs done by her landlord.
She said she went to see the house with her husband, Wayne, and agreed to let it if it was deep-cleaned and repairs were done.
“We believed in good faith this would be done but when we got our keys and looked inside we could not believe the state it had been left in.
“There was thick black dust everywhere, nothing had been decorated and non of the repairs had been done.”
The 48-year-old said they complained to Halls Estate Agents, which managed the property for the landlord, with little success.
She said the windows were rotting, plaster and moss had been dumped in the garden and living room, electrical checks had not been done and the landlord would arrive without informing them.
A spokesperson for Halls said: “The issues have either already been tackled and concluded or matters are in hand with all parties and there is an ongoing dialogue to address the latest issues, some of which Vanessa has only reported this week.”
Vanessa said: “We have waited for eight months and it is only because of the involvement of this newspaper that they have now taken this collaborative approach.
“Days ago we were told they would not do anything so it is only because of the paper this has now happened and I hope they will now be responsible and fulfil what they have promised.”
