Droitwich Town Council help Archie to plant his conker tree in Spring Meadow

A TREE has been planted at Spring Meadow in Droitwich after it was donated by Archie Hine.

He originally planted a conker in a bag of sand in his grandparents’ back garden a few years ago and to everyone’s surprise it has bloomed and blossomed into a young tree.

Droitwich Town Council was approached to help Archie plant it in Spring Meadow, close to his grandparents’ house.

And today the Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Coun Bill Moy, and Coun Bob Brookes helped him complete the task.

The mayor also presented Archie with a framed letter, congratulating him on his care and consideration for nature and the environment.

In the letter, Coun Moy said he and Coun Brookes were very pleased to hear from Archie and able to help plant the horse chestnut sapling.

“Your suggestion of the Spring Meadow / Door Step Green Public Open Space is a well thought out and very suitable location.

“Care for nature and the environment, civic pride and community spirit are all very important values.

“Tree planting is especially important in 2022 to mark the occasion of the ‘Queen’s Platinum Jubilee’ Year and to take part in the ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ project.

“You and your family should be very proud of the lasting legacy you have created by planting this tree here today.”
