Droitwich urged to come together for vigil for Ukraine

Droitwich Editorial 25th Mar, 2022   0

PEOPLE across Droitwich are being urged to come together for a vigil for the people of Ukraine.

It will take place at the bandstand in the Lido Park at 7.30pm next Saturday, April 2.

The 30-minute service of reflection is the brainchild of Coun Richard Morris and has been organised by Droitwich Town Council, Wychavon and churches in the town.

Rev Nigel Byard will lead the ceremony with readings and prayers, and there will also be a poignant message from a Ukrainian family directly affected by the conflict.

Coun Morris said community togetherness was crucial in response to current events.

“Community spirit, dignity, friendship and kindness are all principle human values and bare especially importance in such turbulent times.”
