A DROITWICH woman has raised £690 for Macmillan Cancer Support so far after ‘braving the shave’ on Saturday.

Sam Matthews lost her locks at Worcester Woods Country Park, where she takes part in weekly military fitness sessions.

Sam held the fund-raiser in memory of her friend Tamara Harry who lost her battle with breast cancer.

Sam said: “I have also had another friend diagnosed with breast cancer this year so I also did it to support her.

“We spoke the other week about how she would lose her hair and she shaved has shaved hers off too.

“People kept coming up to me, saying how brave I was but it’s those who are going through the treatment who are the brave ones.”

Sam’s hair was shaved off in by her daughter Demi and in front of friends and family members who had gathered to watch.

“Everyone has been so supportive and given so generously.

“I’m hoping even more people will donate so we can raise as much money as possible for the cause,” she said.

Sam works in a care home for the elderly and she said everyone at the home had also been fantastic.

“They are really excited about the prospect of me coming back with a shaved head,” she added.

Anyone wanting to donate to Sam’s ‘Brave the Shave’ page can do so by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/samantha-matthews19 and pledging money there.
