A DROITWICH woman has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to carrying out distraction burglaries on two elderly women.

Stacey Billington, 31, will be sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on July 14 after a hearing on Wednesday.

The first burglary was on June 12 when she approached a property in Vines Mews, asking for help. The occupier allowed her to use her telephone and whilst in the property she stole a purse.

The second burglary was committed on June 19 in Ploughman’s Walk.

She again asked for help in order to gain access to the property and stole a purse.

Police said both victims were elderly.

Sgt Sarah Kent, of Droitwich Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “These are, thankfully, quite a rare type of offence but please make sure you remind elderly friends and relatives to be vigilant.”
