AN HISTORIC Droitwich tea room officially opened its doors on Tuesday for the first time in almost 30 years.
More than 50 people went along to the launch of Bullocks, including members of staff and the previous owners.
The ribbon was cut by Beth Abbey who last owned the tea room and there was a presentation by the Lyn Blewitt, from the Historic Droitwich group.
Betty and the daughters of Alfred Bullock, who originally owned the business, also cut a cake to mark the special occasion.
Betty drew the winning entry from the free prize draw which took place during the town’s Christmas lights switch-on. Beverley Dean, from Droitwich, was the lucky winner and she will be taking afternoon tea for two with Prosecco at Bullocks.
Current owners Steve Weaver and Andy Probyn bought the building in 2013.
Steve said it was a wonderful day and he hoped everyone enjoyed their trip down memory lane, adding it was a treat to meet old members of staff and members of the Bullocks family, along with Betty Abbey.
“We have enjoyed carrying out the project and hope everybody enjoys the finished product.
“There is a lot of history with Bullocks and we wanted it to carry on.
“Putting the Bullocks sign up on the morning of the opening at 7.30am – was the icing on the cake for me.
“We have tried to recreate the feel for the old Bullocks and married it with a contemporary twist.
“We look forward to welcoming friends old and new,” he said.
After the launch, the popular venue opened to the public on Wednesday.
Bullocks will be a tea room during the day and a bistro on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.
