DROITWICH’S Grace Cards and Books – which was at the centre of controversy during the Covid lockdowns – has announced it is closing its doors at the end of the month.
The shop has launched a 50 per cent off closing down sale on all its stock from today.
The store was found guilty of four breaches of The Health Protection (Coronavirus restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020. It had previously pleaded not guilty to the breaches.
The fines were overturned in February after the store’s owners appealed.
They argued they sold similar items to WH Smith which was allowed to stay open during the lockdowns.
Proprietor Alasdair Walker-Cox spoke of his relief after the ruling and said they ‘just wanted to carry on’.
They announced the closure on social media and invited people to ‘pick up some bargains’, adding: “Hopefully see you soon.”
