DROITWICH’s Hop Pole Inn has made it into the prestigious Good Beer Guide 2018, it has today been revealed.

And this week Doug Robinson from the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) has been visiting the venues to present the respective landlords and managers with their certificates to confirm their inclusion.

In Bromsgrove the Golden Cross, ran by JD Wetherspoon, The Little Ale House, Worcester Road,

The Ladybird Inn and The Park Gate Inn all made the grade.

Others in there include the Holly bush Inn in Belbroughton, The Weighbridge in Alvechurch and The Coach and Horses in Weatheroak.

The Plough in Shenstone also made it into the guide.

In Redditch, JD Wetherspoon’s The Rising Sun, The Black Tap and The Rocklands Social Club were included, along with the Weatheroak Tap House in Studley and the Robin Hood in Drayton.

The Good Beer Guide is published each year and details the pubs considered the best cask ale hostelries in the country, along with a list of UK cask ale brewers and tasting notes on their beers.

Members of the local CAMRA group assess the pubs in their area and put forward the ones they feel the best cask ale pubs.

Doug told The Standard: “It is fantastic that we have so many great pubs in our area to choose from and, because of that, have some strong representatives in this year’s edition.

“Congratulations to all the pubs which have made it into this year’s Good Beer Guide.”
