DROITWICH’S MND Warrior John Adams is celebrating his 79th birthday this Friday.
The celebration comes five years after he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) when he was told his life expectancy was 12 to 18 months.
John has always remained positive and appreciates the things he can still do rather than the thing he can no longer manage.
He has gained an enormous social media following and uses this platform to raise awareness of MND and to raise funds to find a much needed cure.
To celebrate his birthday he started a campaign to get 79 cards to represent the 79 years which, in his words: ‘he has been blessed with’.
People agreed to sponsor him for each card he received with all cash going to his JustGiving page for MND Research.
Within days of launching his campaign John has received over 300 cards.
People from all over the world have contacted him saying they will be sending a card.
John’s daughter Helen Millward said: “He has been overwhelmed with the response – many of the cards say what an inspiration he is and how his positive attitude and approach to life has made such a difference to them.
“With the amount of messages John has received he actually thinks he could get up to 1,000 cards.
“His sponsors must be getting very nervous!”
Anyone who wants to send him a card can send it to: Sir John Adams, MND Warrior, 32 Vines Lane, Droitwich, Worcestershire. WR9 8LT
