DROITWICH’S Old Cock Inn has officially been given Asset of Community Value (ACV) status after the nomination was backed by Wychavon District Council.
We reported before Christmas how the application for one of the town’s most popular pubs to be listed was put forward by the Redditch and Bromsgrove branch of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) and was backed by members of Droitwich Town Council’s resources committee.
The 2011 Localism Act legislation means if the pub becomes an ACV then, if it was ever put up for sale, the community – for example an organisation or a consortium of residents – would be notified and have a chance to buy the building for the market value.
The interested parties would have six months to generate the funding and prepare a business case.
It officially became an ACV last Friday (February 17) and will now be listed until February 17, 2022.
The applicant will then have to re-apply for it to be re-listed.
