Droitwich's Rio revelation goes back to her old school Chawson to inspire pupils

DROITWICH’S very own Paralympic silver medallist Rebecca Redfern took a trip to her former primary school in a bid to inspire the next generation of potential sporting stars.

The 17-year-old Droitwich Spa High School student, who came second in the SB13 100 metres breaststroke in Rio last year, visited Chawson Community First School last Friday (March 2) to show off a collection of items from her stint in Brazil, as well as her coveted silver medal.

Each class at Chawson asked Rebecca some questions about her experiences before she passed over one of her lucky mascots, as well as a signed photo.

Headteacher Mrs Wallace said: “’We were delighted to welcome back one of our past pupils and to share in the excitement of her success.”
