Droitwich's SPArkles WI reflects on a successful year at annual meeting

THE PRESIDENT of SPArkles WI has been voted in for her fourth year in a row at the annual meeting of the group.

Karen Philpott said she was proud to take up the helm again, adding she was looking forward to the year ahead.

“What sets us apart is there really something for everyone and every member plays a part in helping this WI to SPArkle.”

On the night the members also put their creative skills to the test, decorating some mugs.

Over the past 12 months SPArkles has raised cash at Saltfest, given out bouquets as part of World Mental Health Day and invited an array of speakers from butchers to artists to the meetings.

Members have also tried their hand at tai chi, axe-throwing, escape rooms, dancing classes and yoga.

SPArkles WI, which meets on Thursday nights, spans five generations with the youngest member at 34 and the oldest at 83.
