Droitwich's stalwart Lido campaign chair steps down after 11 years

A WELL known and respected Droitwich campaigner is stepping down from her role as the head of the group responsible for supporting the town’s Lido.

Suzi Wood has been the chair of the Friends of the Droitwich Spa Lido (FODSL) for 11 years.

Before that she was one of the original campaigning group that saved the pool when it looked like it could end up being closed down more than 25 years ago.

Her hard work and energy, first of all, contributed to saving the pool and in her years as Chair she has helped organise many successful fundraising campaigns as well as fostering community links across the town.

The leader of Wychavon District Council Richard Morris said Suzi ‘had helped establish FODSL as a respected and important local community group and has greatly enriched our terrific lido asset.’

To thank her for her hard work and dedication committee members and supporters recently presented Suzi with an original painting of The Lido by local artist Wendy Simmonds. A gift that captures the salty pool that she’s so passionate about.

The pool is currently celebrating its 90th birthday and has been sold out many times in the heatwaves of recent weeks.
