THE TWO Queens Festival took place in Droitwich’s St Andrews Shopping Centre on Saturday (June 11) to celebrate Her Majesty’s milestone 90th birthday.

The Droitwich Beauty Queen Ambassador was revealed as town singing sensation Abby Inez who became an iTunes hit and recently narrowly missed out on representing the UK in Eurovision as half of duo Darline.

The event was officially opened by Droitwich Spa Mayor Roy Murphy and Worcestershire County Councillor Pam Davey and a variety of local performers took to the stage, including students from Witton Middle School showcasing music and drama, magician Dave Jones and vintage jazz swing band Chuck Harriet.

In the evening, top tribute band Rhapsody Queen belted out classics, such as Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me Now and Bohemian Rhapsody. That was a sell-out.

Sean Sollom, the St Andrews Shopping Centre manager, said: “It went well – there was a great atmosphere and it a good event to do.”

He added they would definitely be looking for further opportunities to do similar events with the 4Shires Festivals.
