THE NEW pond and garden was officially opened at Witton Middle School last Thursday.
The unveiling was attended by a number of special visitors, including a representative from Tesco which awarded a grant to the school from the Bags for Schools scheme.
The project allocates cash raised from the sales of carrier bags to shoppers.
The pond and garden will enhance the environment and provide a range of learning opportunities that previously would have meant an off-site visit.
Headtecher Cath Crossley, said: “Just as we watch our children thrive and develop, we look forward to seeing the space develop and thrive in the future and look forward to sharing the facility with our community partners.”
