A MAN was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving when police pulled over a vehicle in Droitwich yesterday (Sunday).
The stop was made by officers on patrol after the vehicle was linked to suspected drug possession and supply. All three people on board were searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The driver failed a roadside drug test for cannabis and was arrested on suspicion of driving over the limit. Checks also showed they had no licence or insurance. The vehicle was seized.
Drug‑driving is one of the ‘Fatal 4’ – the contributory factor in high numbers of serious injuries or deaths on the roads. The other three are speeding, using a handheld mobile phone at the wheel and not wearing a seatbelt.
Droitwich Police said, after the incident: “We’re committed to keeping our roads safe and will continue to take robust action against those who put others at risk.”
And officers urged anyone who has concerns about drug activity or dangerous driving to report it by calling police on 101 or 999 if the crime is currently being committed.
