A DRUG-Driver and four other motorists in illegal vehicles were stopped yesterday in Droitwich.
An operation was held on the A38 in the town as part of West Mercia Police’s annual Christmas drink and drug driving campaign.
It was carried out by officers from Worcestershire Operational Policing Unit (OPU) and the force’s motorbike support team.
A total of 21 vehicles were stopped with the one driver failing a DrugWipe test.
Another four had violated traffic legislation.
We reported on Tuesday that the latest statistics for the West Mercia Police area showed – between December 1 and 20, 87 motorists had been arrested for drink-driving and a further 61 for drug-driving.
Shockingly, 13 of the 45 arrests in the past week have come as the result of collisions.
