'Enjoy Worcestershire's country parks this bank holiday but socially distance', say county health bosses

ENJOY Worcestershire’s country parks this bank holiday weekend but please maintain social distancing measures – that is the message from Worcestershire County Council health bosses.

Crowds are expected to flock to sites such as the Waseley Hills Country Park, Worcester Woods Country Park and Hartlebury Common after the Government revised its lockdown measures last week which enables people to leave their local area and drive to venues, providing they maintain the safe two-metre distance.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, Director of Public Health at Worcestershire County Council said: “Exercise is a vital element of keeping our bodies and minds healthy.

“During an uncertain time, exercise can offer people an opportunity to relax and take their minds off the current situation, as well as keep us fit whilst we are not moving around as often during the day.

“Of course, it is still incredibly important that we all adhere to social distancing rules, whilst we are out exploring Worcestershire’s beautiful countryside and that we remember to wash our hands as soon as we return home.”

Coun Lucy Hodgson, cabinet member with responsibility for communities at Worcestershire County Council, added: “With Government guidelines now stating that you can leave your house to exercise more than once a day, it is the perfect time to get out and explore our beautiful county.

“The teams who manage our country parks and green spaces in Worcestershire have been working hard to make sure that the areas are safe and looking their best ready for visitors.

“We urge everyone to follow the Government guidelines to keep everyone safe.”

All country parks and nature reserves managed by the county council are open for Worcestershire residents to take their daily exercise in.
