AN APPRENTICESHIP and training event will be held at Westlands Community Centre between 1.30pm and 4.30pm tomorrow (Wednesday, March 2).
It has been organised by Moving Forward, a charity funded by the National Lottery as part of Droitwich CVS, it supports primarily people living on the Westlands Estate although its area covers Droitwich West as a whole.
Through our Community Hub the support it offers boosts the wellbeing of both individuals and families who can access courses, activities, help with careers advice, a Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) clinic, PCSO drop-in sessions and support with housing queries.
It also runs a Community Fridge which offers free food to those who use it and most recently we have been able to offer a Household Support Fund through Droitwich CVS.
A Jobs Fair held in September resulted into people finding work.
At tomorrow’s event, there will be regional and local companies and organisations attending which can offer invaluable advice and opportunities for those considering apprenticeships.
Among them will be the Worcestershire Health and Care Acute NHS Trust, Civicare, Menzies, ITS Construction, Kidderminster College, Heart of Worcestershire College, Platform Housing, Nova Training, Young Adult Learning and more.
There will also be advisors from Kidderminster Job Centre in attendance and Sue Owens, Wychavon District Council Skills Officer.
Project Administrator Charlotte McCall said: “We are pleased to invite these companies and organisations to our Moving Forward Apprenticeship and Training Event, who can offer hugely beneficial opportunities to people living in the Droitwich and wider Worcestershire area.”
