AN EVENT will be held at David’s Garden, Ash Lane, Martin Hussingtree on Sunday, July 1, to raise funds for a new narrowboat to replace the Droitwich Waterways Trust charity’s Pamela May.

The vessel, which gives rides on the canals to local groups, is equipped with a wheelchair lift and disabled toilet so no one is excluded from enjoying the area’s beautiful waterways.

The campaign is now reaching its £110,000 target and it is hoped Sunday’s event will get it even closer.

There will be a variety of entertainment on offer from 10.30am to 4pm, including Morris Dancers, Tenbury Teme Valley Band, Droitwich Community Choirs, singers and musicians.

Renowned Agatha Rasin and Hamish Macbeth author MC Beaton will also be at the event signing copies of her books and there will be refreshments.

A balloon race will bring the curtain down on the day.

Admission is £5 for adults and free for children. Free parking is available at David’s Nurseries.

The beautiful two-acre garden is divided into areas each with unique planting and charm.

Areas include a romantic folly, secret fairy garden, beach garden and wildlife pond, jungle and Japanese tea garden.

New additions for this year include the Ironhenge and The Bee Garden, a haven for wildlife.
