THE QUEEN’S 90th birthday will be the theme of the day as the Salwarpe Festival gets ready to rock next Saturday (August 20).

The event will take place from 2.30pm to 5pm at Churchfields Farm on Copcut Lane in Droitwich.

While adults and older children can compete for prizes on the bucking bronco, other attractions include a cactus lasso and a performance by Wychavon’s W Factor finalists.

There will also be music from the West Mercia Police Brass Band and Worcester Ukelele Band and St Richard’s Hospice Choir.

The handiwork of Saltwork Qulters will also be on display as well as an exhibition of local history.

Meanwhile, the village hall will play host to Salwarpe Women’s Institute, whose homemade teas are always very popular, and on the car park will be numerous classic cars and other interesting vehicles.

Fun and games are also on the menu with sports day races for children, a huge bric-a-brac marquee with bargains galore and the grand raffle with superb prizes

Proceeds from the fete go towards maintaining the historic churches at Salwarpe and Martin Hussingtree.

Entry is £1 for adults, children 15 and under can attend free and car parking is also free.
