DROITWICH Lions has handed £2,000 worth of funding to five local organisations.

A total of £400 each went to Spectrum Days, Droitwich, Acorns Children’s Hospice, the Fort Royal Primary School, Worcester Snoezelen and the Myriad Centre.

The funds were raised from the Lions’ Christmas Grotto and Santa Sleigh and the cash collected from those events always goes to charities and groups which work with or help children.

Droitwich Lions president Bill Phillips said: “Many people probably don’t realise just how expensive equipment is for young people with disabilities.

“For example The Myriad centre is currently fund-raising to replace one of their mini buses.

“Because they have specially adapted long wheelbase vehicles they cost a staggering £53,000.”

He added anyone who had the chance to visit any of the organisations should take the opportunity to do so.

“They all have one fundamental thing in common. They are happy places.

“There is laughter and there is such dedication to the young people in their care.”
