FOUR people and a child were injured after a seven-vehicle crashe on the M5 near Droitwich this morning (Friday).
The incident, involving five cars and two vans, happened on the northbound carriageway near Junction 5 about 11.30am this morning.
A man in his 40s was treated at the scene by medics for neck pain before being taken to Redditch’s Alexandra Hospital for further assessment.
A mum and child and two elderly patients were also assessed for minor injuries were discharged at the scene.
Two hours were later, there was another crash on the northbound carriageway of the M5 – this time between junction 8 (Strensham) and Junction 7 (Worcester).
In that one, a lorry collided with a van which ended up in a ditch.
Following that one, a man, who was in his 50s, was trapped in the van.
After being released he was treated for back pain before being taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
An ambulance support officer together with an ambulance and a paramedic in a rapid response car attended the scene.
Two of the three lanes of the M5 had to be closed and that has led to heavy congestion on the northbound carriageway between Junction 6 and 7 (Worcester to Droitwich).
